Here at Pulsar Instruments we spend most of our days helping HSE professionals selecting the best noise measurement equipment to conduct their noise surveys in the workplace. We know how confusing, time-consuming and sometimes daunting the process of selecting a new piece of equipment can be. Never mind the inherent fear of maths and acoustic terminology, there’s the whole issue of compliance with the Noise Regulations to consider also. No one likes it at first – especially if you are new to occupational noise measurement. However, with a bit of help and guidance from Pulsar and its friendly team, you will soon come round to it and gain the confidence to implement a ‘noise safe’ programme as part of your HSE strategy.
Our company goes back a long time, 1969 in fact! For the last 45 years, Pulsar Instruments have been supplying innovative, reliable and compliant products for occupational noise measurement and noise at work monitoring and analysis.

Sound level meter
Application – A sound level meter is a hand-held device that measures the sound pressure level in decibels. All Pulsar Instruments’ sound level meters are suitable to quantify different kinds of noises, including measurement of noise in an industrial, occupational or environmental setting.

Personal noise dosimeter
Application – Personal noise dosimeters are self-contained devices worn on a person’s body. They are used to assess a worker’s typical daily exposure to noise. A very useful tool for those operating in difficult to reach working environments where a sound level meter would not be practical to use.
- Model 22 personal noise dosemeter
Wall-mounted noise-activated warning signs
Application – A highly visible warning system with its own microphone. Perfect for use in factories, workshops or nightclubs to alert staff when noise levels become too high or in quiet locations such as schools, hospitals or libraries to indicate when noise levels must be kept down.Pulsar Instruments:
