Description
The NoisePen is a Class 2 personal sound exposure meter designed for monitoring an individualโs daily noise exposure. Fully compliant with IEC 61252:1993 and ANSI S1.25:1991, the NoisePen captures all essential occupational noise parameters over a full working day. With no buttons, screens or cables, it cannot be adjusted or tampered with during use, ensuring reliable and accurate measurements.
Suitable for occupational noise exposure assessments
The NoisePen is ideal for monitoring an individualโs noise exposure throughout the day, particularly where employees move between different tasks or locations. It measures all key occupational noise parameters, including LAeq,ย LEP,dย (LEX,8h),ย LCPeak,ย TWAย andย % Dose, providing the data required to assess compliance with workplace noise regulations.
Comfortable, wearable and built for daily use
Designed for use in real working environments, the NoisePen is lightweight and can be worn securely on the shoulder using the provided leather mounting strap. Its rechargeable battery provides more than 30 hours of measurement time, allowing it to monitor full shifts. With no external reader required, the NoisePen connects directly to a PC via USB, making it easy to set up and manage your measurements.
Straightforward setup and reporting with AnalyzerPlus
All configuration, scheduling, calibration and download data is completed using our licence-free AnalyzerPlus software. Measurements can be viewed, analysed and reported on, with Time History data showing how exposure varies throughout the day.
Flexible scheduling for extended monitoring
The NoisePen allows measurements to start and finish automatically at set times, making it ideal for workers on varying or unsupervised shifts. Measurement schedules can be programmed for up to seven days, making it easy to collect data over longer periods.
Other noise dosimeter models
For organisations that need a more durable personal noise dosimeter, the NoiseBadge offers a robust, shoulder-mounted alternative to the NoisePen. With a metal casing, it is ideal for industries such as construction, demolition and heavy manufacturing, where durability is essential.
For hazardous or potentially explosive atmospheres, the Intrinsically Safe NoiseBadge provides a certified solution for use in mining, petrochemical facilities and other environments where combustion risks must be carefully managed.
Both models measure the same occupational noise parameters as the NoisePen, allowing you to choose the dosimeter best suited to your working environment.

Instructions
The sections below outline the basic operation of the NoisePen Noise Dosimeter. For full instructions, please refer to the user manual.
Charging the NoisePen
Fully charge the NoisePen before use using the supplied USB cable. The LED glows red while charging and turns blue when fully charged. A full charge typically takes less than four hours and provides up to 24 hours of operation.
Connecting to AnalyzerPlus
Plug the NoisePen into a PC with our licence-free AnalyzerPlus software installed. The software automatically detects the device and opens the NoisePen window. From here, you can configure the NoisePen, synchronise the clock and schedule measurements.
Calibrating the NoisePen
Before and after each measurement, remove the windshield and fit an acoustic calibrator (94 dB or 114 dB) to the microphone. Switch on the calibrator and select Calibrate in AnalyzerPlus. The result and any offset from the last factory calibration are logged automatically. When calibration is complete, switch off the calibrator and replace the windshield.
Starting a Measurement
To start a manual measurement, connect the NoisePen to AnalyzerPlus, perform a calibration, then select Start. Remove the calibrator, replace the windshield and disconnect the NoisePen. The LED flashes blue to show that it is recording.
Wearing the NoisePen
Attach the NoisePen to the shoulder using the supplied leather strap, keeping the microphone within 10 cm of the ear. The device automatically records noise exposure throughout the shift, with no on-device controls.
Stopping and Downloading Data
At the end of the shift, reconnect the NoisePen to AnalyzerPlus and select Stop. Perform a post-measurement calibration, then download the data. Results can be sorted, reviewed, and reports generated directly in AnalyzerPlus, or data can be exported for further analysis.
Scheduled Measurements
You can set the NoisePen to start and stop measurements automatically at chosen times. Up to 12 schedules can be created up to 28 days in advance. To set a schedule, connect the NoisePen to AnalyzerPlus and open the Configure menu. Under the Controls tab, select Enable Schedules and then New Schedule. Set the required start times and days, then choose Save to Instrument. Once disconnected, the NoisePen will begin measuring at the scheduled time. Schedules can be enabled, disabled or cleared from the same window.
Applications
The NoisePen Noise Dosimeter is a compact personal sound exposure meter for measuring personal noise exposure over a working day or shift. It captures all key parameters, including LAeq, LEP,d, % Dose, and TWA, to give a clear picture of an individualโs noise exposure. With no screens, cables, or buttons, the NoisePen is simple to use and less likely to be interfered with during use. Itโs comfortable to wear on the shoulder or upper arm, making it ideal for accurate occupational noise measurements across a wide range of workplaces.
Workplace Noise Monitoring
The NoisePen is ideal for measuring individual noise exposure in busy workplaces where people move between tasks or operate noisy machinery. It allows Health and Safety teams to monitor employees throughout their shift without supervision, making it especially useful where it is unsafe or impractical to take measurements with a handheld sound level meter. The device is worn on the shoulder or upper arm and runs automatically once configured in our licence-free AnalyzerPlus software. After monitoring, results can be downloaded to create clear reports for workplace noise assessments.
Hospitality Noise & Entertainment Noise
The NoisePen Noise Dosimeter is ideal for monitoring noise exposure in venues where music and crowd noise change throughout the day. It provides reliable measurements without supervision, making it ideal for bars, nightclubs, theatres, and live events. Since it runs automatically once set up in our licence-free AnalyzerPlus software, staff can wear it comfortably during their shift without disruption. Once monitoring is complete, results can be reviewed to help protect employees and comply with workplace noise regulations.
