Description

The XD1+ Personal Dust Monitor is a compact, wearable device that provides simple, real-time monitoring of harmful airborne dust. Weighing just 170 g and around a quarter of the size of traditional dust monitors, it is small and light enough to be worn comfortably as part of standard PPE while monitoring exposure directly at the breathing zone. With single-button operation and no pumps, filters, tubes, or replaceable parts, the XD1+ fits naturally into daily work routines. Workers simply switch it on, secure it in place, and it begins monitoring instantly.

Real-time particulate monitoring with customisable exposure alarms

The XD1+ measures PM1, PM2.5, PM4.25, and PM10 in real time, detecting, counting and sizing up to 100,000 airborne particulates per minute to deliver accurate exposure data. Customisable STEL and TWA alarms give instant visual, audible, and vibration warnings when dust levels approach or exceed your chosen limits. This helps teams respond quickly, by adjusting controls such as ventilation or extraction, ensuring that PPE and RPE are used effectively, and identifying high-risk activities where additional protection may be required.

Seamless data analysis via BreatheMobile and BreatheLITE

Bluetooth connectivity and RFID pairing make it easy to view live and historical exposure data. The XD1+ works with the BreatheMOBILE app for live on-screen readings and with the BreatheLITE PC software for configuration, reporting, and compliance checks. Docking options for charging and automatic data download are available, making it straightforward to manage multiple devices and monitor larger teams.

Durable design for demanding environments

The XD1+ is built for demanding environments, with a rugged housing and IPX4 ingress protection to withstand daily use. An automatic self-test runs at start-up to confirm correct operation, and the device provides a reminder every three months when a compliance check is due. Using the Compliance Pack+, this check can be completed via BreatheLITE in around two minutes, with no return-to-base servicing required. With a rechargeable battery delivering up to 16 hours of operation, the XD1+ is ready for full-shift monitoring in real-world conditions.

Instructions

The section below outlines the basic operation of the XD1+ Personal Dust Monitor. For full instructions, please refer to the user manual.

Charging the XD1+

Connect the XD1+ to a USB wall charger or to your PC or laptop using the supplied cable. Allow the device to fully charge before use. The battery indicator flashes green when charging is complete.

Setting up the XD1+

Install the BreatheLITE software on your PC to set custom parameters and review data. You can also download the BreatheMOBILE app from the Apple or Google Play stores to view live readings on your phone. When connected to BreatheLITE, each XD1+ is automatically recognised.

Mounting the XD1+

Attach the XD1+ to clothing or PPE using the provided alligator clip. Position the device near the chest or collar area so it captures accurate exposure levels.

Taking a measurement

Switch on the XD1+ by holding the yellow square button. The device will begin monitoring automatically. The device continuously measures dust concentrations and automatically records exposure data. If your set thresholds are exceeded, the XD1+ provides real-time alerts, including visual indicators, audio alarms and vibration signals.

Reviewing and downloading data

Connect the XD1+ to your PC via USB to review and download exposure data in BreatheLITE. Alternatively, use the BreatheMOBILE app to view measurements and alerts in real-time. The device stores up to 1 GB of data, providing approximately six months of logging at 10-second intervals.

Applications

The XD1+ Personal Dust Monitor is designed for continuous, real-time measurement of personal dust exposure in workplace environments.

Dust Monitoring

The XD1+ provides real-time personal dust monitoring for workers in environments where airborne dust poses a health risk. It helps identify when exposure limits are exceeded and shows whether controls, such as ventilation, dust suppression, PPE, or job rotation, are working across industries such as construction, quarrying, manufacturing, and food production.
